Errors Installing vSphere 8

30th January 2024

Installing vSphere from the 8.0.2 image doesn’t work. use the 8.0.1 image and upgrade afterward

Installing vSphere from the 8.0.0 image has an expired root password (sigh) and needs to be changed via SSH before continuing with step 2 of the vSphere install. So make sure you enable SSH during step 1. and your new password can’t be too similar to your old password or it just boots you. OR install from v8.0.1

Installing vSphere from the 8.0.1 image seems to work (cert hasn’t expired yet)

Make sure your DNS records are in place before you start Stage 2 install or it will fail at 0%

If you can’t add a host with error message can’t push certificate or similar, set the time server on each host to NTP and vCenter to same NTP.
