Starlink Troubleshooting

14th June 2023

Starlink uses the 100.64.x.x/10 address range which is a reserved range for Carrier Grade NAT. This is usually added to the list of BOGON networks aka unroutable.

Fallout:
you likely won’t be able to ping a 100.x.x.x address even if ping is enabled on the public interface
you likely won’t be able to create an IPSec VPN to this address
Tailscale may not work reliably as it also uses addresses in the same 100.x.x.x address range
