What to do when a Windows Update won’t install

cancel installation
Open command prompt or PowerShell as Administrator; sfc /scannow
the above could take 1-2 hours
delete everything in the directory C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
restart PC
start installation and now it should run.
