Canadian backups

Sync.com is a Canadian company, and in compliance with Canadian PIPEDA laws.

The Pro version of Sync.com offers an UNLIMITED storage space for $15/month

Sync.com also offers Vault, files moved to Vault are not synchronized, just stored on cloud storage.

-Sync software is only available on Windows and Mac, NOT Linux.

Install Sync.com client on Windows and share out the Sync directory, using Advanced Sharing, to the Administrators group or similar

Backup Software:

Good choices
Windows Backup; it’s built-in, free to use and simple
Duplicati; its free, Open Source, It makes a WebPage that you can remotely use to check or reconfigure the backup. Supports Strong AES-256 encryption. It compresses and splits your backup into manageable chunks. Don’t forget to record your Pass-Phrase in your Password manager.

Install Duplicati, choose what to backup, and choose “Smart Retention” which keeps a certain # of backups per day, per week and per month. This lets you go back in time in case something gets over-written but not noticed for a few days.

by default Duplicati only allows the local PC to access the web interface

if this is a company PC, with an IT staff you may want to turn on network access

You are not done until you can prove you can restore a file. If you are rushed for time, just restore a single file.
