Situation; Customer is without internet for 20+ hours and fails to call us and ask if we can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hardware required:
Firewall tested with Fortigate (40x series needs extra steps to set a port as Wan2)
USB-C to Ethernet adapter\/dock, ideally with power pass thru. looks like this<\/a>
Android cell phone with data plan. Tested with Samsung S21. May work with Apple + Lightning but I don’t know the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firewall Setup:
Setup your firewall Wan2 as DHCP,
setup an alternate route through Wan2 interface,
Rules to allow Internal to Internet via Wan2<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phone Setup:
Plug the Ethernet dock into Cell phone Usb-C port
Settings, Connections, Mobile Hotspot and Tethering, Ethernet tethering (this will only be lit up when a compatible adapter\/dock is plugged in)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Link:
Plug a USB power supply into the Power Pass Thru port of the Ethernet dock. Being a Hotspot\/Router will drain your battery fast.
Now connect an ethernet cable from the Ethernet dock to the Wan2 port of your Firewall<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your network should now be able to get to the internet as normal.
I would avoid streaming media as this link isn’t going to be as fast as your normal connection and a lot more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
