Am i @ Risk ?

Some lazy ppl never change their passwords.

Go to HaveIBeenPwnd and type in your email address to see if you have been included in well-known breaches. If you are at risk the bottom of the page will say Oh No etc, scroll down and you will find a date and possibly the site that was breached.

Email is a problem because password reset methods usually use email. so a bad guy that finds/buys your email password can type your email address into the “forgot my password” box of facebook or any other site and easily reset your password to something they know, locking you out in the process. They can also change the password to your email. this is the basis of Identity Theft.

What to do? If your email address says Oh No Breach, change your email password. BUT you have just proven that you choose weak passwords! Instead install LastPass password manager in Chrome/Firefox/Android and use it to generate a really strong password. This will result in LESS things to remember, LESS typing as LastPass types your passwords for you. Lastpass fixes the problem of using the same password on multiple sites.

Also if HaveIBeenPwnd lists a site, (mine listed MySpace) goto that site and change password or delete your account if you don’t use that site anymore.

If you are concerned about typing your email address Mozilla has endorsed this site and created a partnership with them. Link
